From you Review for Review reply, I understand that this is for an Android memory game app you're developing. First off, developing apps is awesome and I wish you huge success with it. Putting that much time into something like that deserves a lot of attention. (I haven't had much success but this isn't about me. :P)

Now that that's outta the way, let's talk about the song.

Wow. Sounds nice. I think that a *subtle* (emphasis on subtle) drum track could be used around 0:44 or something. I feel like that would get me more in the memory kind of feel. It's very simple, but that's what makes it so great! Like SCTE3 said it has that reflective feel that makes you want to just reflect on your past. There's not much to say about it but that's only because it's really nice and very simplistic which doesn't give me much to analyze. All in all, I love it. Keep up the good work!

Scouted :)

For a Portal 2 mod, it definitely captures the feel of isolation that surrounds the Portal franchise. However, there's more. There's also that unsettling feeling that's carried throughout the piece. Sounds great really, although there might be too much going on for it to be a soundtrack. It all depends if this will play during a cut scene or as background music. If it's for a cut scene, it's fantastic in my opinion. Everything works well together. All in all, it's great. I hope your mod has much success!

Rich209 responds:

Thanks for the nice comments! Yes this piece will be for a cut scene, or rather a interactive cut scene. Most of the music in this mod takes place at scripted events.

Very minimalistic sounding at the beginning. The melody at 1:13 is great and the song is upbeat the most of the time. The segment at 0:32 - 0:45 caught me off guard. The dissonance from what I see it to be doesn't really fit. The one problem I have with the piece is that it just all of a sudden ends. No outro or anything. Still, at the end of the day, it's a nice piece despite the two things I mentioned. Keep up the nice work!

Sounds very majestic. Cool!

Didn't know trance could be uplifting; seems more like dance but who am I to say. The synth around 2:24 seemed a little choppy and too overpowering. I couldn't quite hear the percussion and underlying melodies enough in my opinion. Nice ending effect, I liked it. Overall, nice piece. Just work on balancing your melodies and your songs will be great in the future!

Wow, I don't know what to say.

Honestly. I was extremely bored 4 minutes and nine seconds ago. Not anymore. Wow is all I can say. It's a really nice piece. Really gets you in the feels XD. But seriously now, it got me thinking of a whole bunch of real world issues. The piano is pretty fluent, the strings not too overpowering and the only thing I would suggest is that the melody doesn't move too much for a song that's 4:09; which prevents the listener from moving from one thought (or "real world issue")to another. The song clearly portrays either a story or message but had the melody moved more, it would've been stellar. But that doesn't even bother me. I voted 5 and that's probably the first time I've done that. Great job!

drumdude responds:

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it, and it got you thinking.

I see what you're saying about moving the melody. Honestly, I thought about it many times while writing this, but opted against it as I have an unfortunate habit of adding TOO much and I really wanted to keep the song more mellow and calming rather than moving things too far and messing up my original idea.

I am honored to receive your first 5 vote haha. Thanks for the review

Hmm... Very interesting.

I'm not gonna touch base on the religious aspect just to keep things simple. As for the lyrics, it's up to you really. Make two copies, one with the whisper and the other with normal singing and compare for yourself. Remember, you're audio reflects your opinion so if you think it needs to be whispered, then whisper the lyrics! In my opinion, I think normal singing would work better however. But the simple lyrics really work with the simple melody

Now to the music itself! Sounds solid really - nice work! The only thing I would suggest is to add some more melody next time. The instruments remain simple and true to the song. The whole thing sounds very cleansing. Awesome job!

SoulSecure responds:

Lol @ "next time" I write music all the time :P

I think I'm going to do the vocals the way I did them on The Common Bedroom. What I think I need to do is put in more verses of lyrics to keep it cohesive.

Thanks for the review!

Definitely an amazing remix of the original. WELL DONE!!

I haven't listened to the original since... oh I dunno a long time. But this brought me right back to Super Mario Galaxy; a game I loved to play and still would love to play. But this... THIS is no plain remix. It's clear you put A LOT into this. I can tell (At least I hope I can tell). I can almost imagine the entire battle playing through again. The synth almost modernizes it in my opinion, bringing the piece from an simple orchestral to a more evolved piece, while still keeping the tune fans of the game loved.

Of course, no piece is without its flaws. The synth was a little overpowering in my opinion but that's all I can notice; it's hard to give constructive criticism when you're enjoying the piece so much!
